Sometimes You Get What You Want, But It Ain't What You Expected!!!
OmniPeace was supposed to be a small chocolate bar company called "Peace of Chocolate." I expected it to be easy; I mean it's selling chocolate bars, right, how hard can that be. Well, try it sometime. It was like trying to rob a bank. So I spoke to a friend who loved the logo, said I'd never make a dime or donate a dime on the profit margin of a chocolate bar, and suggested I put it on t-shirts. So I did; with a t-shirt licensee who created a beautiful collection; but before the big launch with my best friend Courteney Cox hosting, and all my excitement swirling around, I got diagnosed with cancer. WOW, talk about a curve ball; and all this news just two weeks before the launch. Needless to say, I had a big decision to make...turn left...or turn right; so I did what I'm not accustomed to doing; I turned right; right into launching the OmniPeace line at Kitson/LA June 12, 2007 and then right into chemo 12 hrs later, June 13, 2007. I expected train wrecks along the way and instead got one astonishment followed by another followed by another. OmniPeace flourished like weeds in the garden of Wishbone, like silver in the vaults of finance. Most of the time I just walked around in shock wondering how on earth this was even working, and then other times I just woke up in the middle of the night wondering if I was even going to live. But for the most part, I was incredibly grateful...because what started out as a craving for chocolate, turned into an unprecedented, wildly successful t-shirt company that turned into a grass roots movement across the country that was nothing short of a miracle at best. I anticipated very little sales in the beginning, if any, but despite that, OmniPeace and its partners have built five schools in three years and given countless to charities. How to account for this massive success? Who knows? Beginners luck? Good karma? I haven't the slightest idea and it doesn't really matter. All that matters is that it continues to work magically, gracefully and miraculously and I dare not question why. I just thank God everyday that thanks to your support, OmniPeace is alive and well and thriving.
